RF Online has a setting in the extensive outer space with mechanism and fantastical illusionism combined. Starting from the borders of the galaxy called as the NOVUS solar system, RF Online is the arena of competition between the spiritual civilization called as Holy Alliance CORA, machine civilization of ACCRETIA Empire, and the BELLATO Union which pursues harmony of spiritual and mechanical. The Holy Alliance CORA, ACCRETIA Empire, and BELLATO Union each win their independence as the strong ARCANE fell down. Then they obtain the essence of ARCANE civilization and fight for the supreme power in the star system.
Each country has a supreme task to become stronger through surviving battles with each other, the mighty forces of ARCANE, and even vicious foreign creatures. Each civilization can develop through force and items depending on their characteristics. The force is strength representing the spiritual civilization. Each having its own features, the force can get stronger through training.
Items are peculiarities of machine civilization and can be produced, exchanged, and repaired using resource mining and trade. Each item has its own features which are used in attack and defense. The Holy Alliance CORA, ACCRETIA Empire, and BELLATO Union can use special skills like summoning, machinery equipments, and production depending on their civilization. These skills strengthen individuals, but also are greatly useful in group battle.
The principle of nature that forms the NOVUS solar system is the repetition of certain numbers and rules, like the doctrines of Decenian, the people of Holy Alliance CORA believe in. The power of elements of nature- fire, water, earth, wind, saints, and darkness, show great energy in each combination but sometimes lose strength in wrongful mixtures. The balance and regular number arrangements are the foundation of the force and also affect the elements of nature.
